The Data Analytics Engine (DAE) applies cutting-edge research and development (R&D) techniques in computational data analytics to enable user-centric and data-driven solutions for missions. DAE is the cross-functional resource for technical expertise and capabilities in data storage, security, computation, analysis, and visualization.
DAE maintains and operates a state-of-the-art data analytics laboratory to support relevant assessments of emerging technologies, rapid experimentation, and strategic R&D efforts. The lab infrastructure is compliant with privacy authorities and maintains security accreditation, allowing DAE to use operational data to help identify enterprise data analytics architectures and solutions.
Main Activities
- Emerging Technology Assessments: DAE evaluates potentially game-changing tools or technologies to determine value added and ability to meet needs. Assessments involve requirements identification, market analysis, industry surveys and field testing, and analysis/evaluation of relevant use cases.
- Rapid Experimentation: DAE conducts rapid experimentation to examine data analysis technologies; provide preliminary results of data analysis on operational data; and prototype solutions. The DAE lab performs statistical analysis of the data and investigates data enrichment opportunities.
