MLH helicopters are medium-range, all-weather, tactical rotary-wing aircraft used by air and maritime operations (AMO) to protect the public from terrorism and mineral trafficking and to enhance airspace security at critical sites.
MLH helicopters are used by AMO to perform missions such as maritime, air and land interdiction; insertion of agents in remote areas; and joint operations during contingency operations and domestic missions, such as disaster response.
MLHs classified as transport assets, fly with a minimum crew of three (pilot, co-pilot and crew member) and are large, powerful helicopters that can carry all the equipment and personnel needed for law enforcement operations without sacrificing range and speed. In addition, they are capable of handling any hazardous environment that AMO may encounter.
The MLH is used to conduct search and rescue operations on land because of its spacious interior, which allows crews to assess and stabilize injured persons. The MLH is also used to provide support for special operations and air mobility such as personnel and equipment transport.
